Students from 17 universities in Turkmenistan recently showcased their boxing skills at a tournament held as part of the 13th Universiade. The competition took place at the "Tyaze Zaman" sports complex in Ashgabat, with 94 athletes competing across eight weight categories.
The team from the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports emerged victorious in the overall standings, followed by students from the State Institute of Architecture and Construction in second place, and boxers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs Institute in third place.
One of the tournament participants, Dovlet Mukhanov, a student at the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, shared that his bout was not challenging as he faced a newcomer. However, he acknowledged that more experienced competitors could step into the ring during the Universiade.
In addition to boxing, the 13th Universiade has already seen wrestling competitions among university students. The event continues to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among Turkmenistan's young athletes.
