The State Security Service of Uzbekistan has announced the arrest of individuals suspected of fraud and bribery in the Asaka district of the Andijan region.

In the first case, a former employee of the investigative department of the Asaka District Police Department was apprehended while receiving $15,000 from a close associate of a construction company executive who was in custody. The former employee allegedly promised to manipulate the detention measures and reduce the amount of damage discovered during the investigation by conducting additional measurement activities through the deputy prosecutor of the district.

A criminal case was initiated against the former investigator under articles 168 (fraud) and 211 through article 28 (complicity in bribery) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. The deputy prosecutor of the district was also implicated in the investigation and both men have been remanded in custody.

In another incident, the head of the agricultural department of the Asaka district administration, acting on the orders of the deputy head of the district on agricultural affairs, attempted to sell a 50-acre plot of land leased by his livestock enterprise. The land was supposed to be reclassified as non-residential buildings through the district cadastral office, and the buyer was extorted for $40,000.

During a sting operation conducted by the State Security Service, the head of the agricultural department was arrested while accepting a $15,000 advance payment. Subsequently, the head of the district cadastral office, who received $5,000 from the bribe, was also apprehended.

In addition to them, the deputy head of the district on agricultural affairs has been implicated in the criminal case.
