The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan has released a draft resolution for discussion regarding the establishment of the opportunity for convicts to have remote video meetings in places of detention.

This initiative was outlined in the presidential decree dated August 11, 2017, and the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated October 15, 2021.

As part of an experiment from December 1, 2023, to February 1, 2024, a secure remote video communication system was implemented with convicts at Correctional Colony No. 7. The system, known as Prisoline, was installed by Inm International, which received a positive evaluation as stated in the accompanying note.

Therefore, there is a desire to engage this company in setting up video communication systems for online meetings in all places of punishment within the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and to enter into a direct 10-year contract with them under a public-private partnership.

The prisoner will be responsible for covering the cost of the online meetings, which will be conducted under the supervision of the administration of the correctional facility.
