Uzbek Citizens Detained in Kazakhstan for Violating Russian Legislation: Official Warning

in National Security / Uzbekistan - by

In recent times, there have been cases of citizens of Uzbekistan being detained in Kazakhstan for violating the legislation in Russia. This information was reported by the press service of the Agency for External Labor Migration of Uzbekistan.

On May 8, the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned citizens that when crossing the Uzbek-Kazakh or Russian-Kazakh border, it is necessary to ensure in advance that there are no obstacles to entering not only Kazakhstan but also Russia. This is due to Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation signing agreements on mutual recognition and enforcement of decisions on administrative and criminal cases.

As a result, Kazakh competent authorities are conducting checks to determine if there have been any violations of Russian migration or other legislation or unpaid fines.

If violations during the stay in Russia or unpaid fines are discovered, Kazakh authorities may decide to prevent the entry of a citizen of Uzbekistan into Kazakhstan or their exit from it.

According to the agency, the detained individuals are being held in correctional facilities until the Russian side makes a final decision on their committed violations.

"In connection with this, compatriots who have come to Uzbekistan after committing an offense on the territory of Russia are advised not to travel to Kazakhstan," the agency's message stated.

Furthermore, the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommended that citizens check the website of the Main Directorate for Migration Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the presence or absence of a ban on entry into the country (section "Services").
