Uzbekistan and Gambia Establish Diplomatic Relations in New York

The Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN, Ulugbek Lapasov, and the Permanent Representative of Gambia to the UN, Lamin Dibba, signed a joint communique on March 14th in New York on behalf of their governments to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries, as reported by IA "Dunyo".

Both sides expressed interest in strengthening cooperation within international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies. They also agreed to enhance interaction in exploring mutually beneficial areas of bilateral cooperation.

With this development, the West African nation of Gambia becomes the 148th country with which Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations. Earlier in March, Uzbekistan also established diplomatic relations with Liechtenstein and Belize.
