Uzbek President Meets US Delegations to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with US delegations led by Senator Steven Daines and Congressman Mike Rogers on March 27, as reported by the state leader's press service. The discussions focused on enhancing Uzbek-American relations of strategic partnership and expanding multi-dimensional cooperation.

The President commended the inter-parliamentary cooperation, particularly the work of the Caucus on Uzbekistan Cooperation in the US Congress. The bilateral trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the US increased by 30% in 2023. Both sides noted the growing number of American companies operating in Uzbekistan, such as Air Products, implementing investment projects worth over $10 billion in the country.

Special attention was given to continuing active cooperation with the states of Montana, Alabama, Washington, California, and Texas, represented by American legislators. Prospective areas of cooperation include education, agriculture, digital technologies, mining industry, green energy, pharmaceuticals, food industry, and others. An agreement was reached to organize business missions from American regions to Uzbekistan.

Discussions also covered current international and regional issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.
