President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, welcomed a member of China's State Council and Minister of Public Security, Van Xiaoqun, who is on an official visit to the country on April 1st. The meeting focused on expanding practical cooperation and coordinating efforts in combating modern security challenges and threats.
Mirziyoyev highlighted the potential for fruitful interagency cooperation in law enforcement. Priority areas discussed included sharing experiences, conducting joint activities in key public security areas, implementing modern information technologies and innovative work methods, combating cybercrime, training qualified specialists, among others. Regional cooperation issues were also addressed.
On the same day, Van Xiaoqun held talks with Uzbekistan's Minister of Internal Affairs, Pulat Bobojonov. They discussed strengthening cooperation in combating terrorism, extremism, illegal drug trafficking, and other forms of transnational organized crime. Special training courses for law enforcement officials in combating cybercrime and digital forensics were also discussed.
The press service of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Internal Affairs mentioned that in recent years, systematic cooperation in combating international terrorism, extremism, transnational crime, and ensuring public security has reached a new level. There has been intensive exchange of information and experiences between the ministries, as well as capacity building and bilateral visits.
Following the meeting between the two ministries of the two countries, a cooperation program for 2024-2025 was signed, solidifying the commitment to enhancing security collaboration between Uzbekistan and China.
