in Politics / Uzbekistan - by

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev recently reviewed plans for the construction of internal roads with cement-concrete pavement, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank. The project aims to build 841 km of roads in Karakalpakstan and 86 districts, benefiting over 770,000 residents.

The $240 million project will be executed by local contractors and engineers, with a 5-year maintenance guarantee post-completion. Additionally, a project for the reconstruction of a section of the international highway M39 is underway, with a focus on enhancing road quality and infrastructure in rural areas.

The government is emphasizing the importance of high-quality road construction, promoting eco-friendly practices such as planting trees along roadsides. The involvement of the private sector through outsourcing for road maintenance signifies a shift towards more efficient road management practices in Uzbekistan.
