Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Presidents Strengthen Strategic Partnership

The Presidents of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, recently met in Khiva to discuss the enhancement of their countries' strategic partnership and alliance, as well as the expansion of comprehensive cooperation.

During the meeting, the leaders focused on accelerating cooperation projects, implementing investment agreements, and trade contracts in line with previously reached high-level agreements. They also reviewed reports from deputy prime ministers and co-chairs of working groups on advancing joint projects in various sectors such as engineering, energy, transportation, logistics, mining, textiles, food industry, and others.

Both Presidents issued directives to increase trade turnover, establish a long-term industrial cooperation program, and implement infrastructure projects in the transportation and energy sectors. They emphasized the importance of initiating work on establishing an International Industrial Cooperation Center this year and expanding the activities of a joint foreign trade company.

Furthermore, the Presidents extensively discussed the development of humanitarian and tourist relations, organizing joint cultural, educational, and sports events involving youth. They exchanged views on regional matters, particularly the rational use of water resources, deepening cooperation within the framework of consultative meetings of Central Asian heads of state, and the situation in Afghanistan.
