Kazakhstan President Emphasizes Vital Importance of Kazakh-Uzbek Partnership

During the negotiations with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Khiva, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed the opinion that the Kazakh-Uzbek tandem is a vital necessity. He stated, "Only together can we ensure the sustainable development of our countries." In this regard, it is reported that the President of Kazakhstan supported the adoption of the Program of Strategic Partnership and Alliance between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan until 2034.

The presidents exchanged views on economic cooperation, including increasing mutual trade, collaboration in energy, transportation, water management, and the IT sector. According to Akorda, the trade turnover between the countries amounted to $4.4 billion last year. Joint projects in the fields of industry, energy, transportation, logistics, and agriculture are being implemented, with a portfolio of 60 joint projects involving investments exceeding $2.5 billion.

Earlier reports mentioned their directives to create a long-term program of industrial cooperation and implement infrastructure projects in transportation and energy sectors. Special attention was given to the development of cultural and humanitarian ties and the exploration of the unique tourism potential of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed the regional agenda and coordinated on international cooperation matters during their meeting.
