During the negotiations in Khiva, the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan focused on ensuring stability and security in the Central Asian region, as reported by the Akorda press service.
In this context, the Presidents discussed the preparations for the upcoming sixth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States, as well as the prospects for cooperation in the C5+ formats. It is worth noting that the previous summit of the Central Asian five took place in September 2023 in Dushanbe.
In the context of strengthening cooperation in the region, the leaders of the two countries welcomed initiatives such as the establishment of a Joint Venture between the railway administrations of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, the provision of cargo terminals on a mutually beneficial basis at the Kazakh-Chinese border and in Uzbekistan for organizing cargo transportation along the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan route.
The project is expected to contribute to the growth of bilateral trade, increase the volume of goods transportation, and create favorable conditions for expanding cargo transportation in the southern direction. The Joint Venture will be involved in the development of the Trans-Afghan route, as stated in the announcement.
