Uzbekistan President Pardons Hundreds in Honor of Ramadan

President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, signed a decree on April 8 ahead of the Ramadan holiday, granting clemency to a group of individuals who have sincerely repented and are firmly on the path of correction.

The decree pardons 426 people, with 135 fully released from their sentences, 200 granted early conditional release, and 26 having their sentences replaced with milder ones. Additionally, the prison terms of 65 individuals have been reduced.

Among those pardoned are 11 foreign nationals, 50 women, 13 men over the age of 60, 157 individuals under 30 (including 3 minors), and 5 individuals involved with banned organizations.

The President has instructed for the pardoned individuals to be reunited with their families, assisted in social adaptation, encouraged to engage in meaningful work, adopt a healthy lifestyle, and reintegrate into society.
