President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan signed a Treaty of Allied Relations following negotiations in Dushanbe on Thursday. The Uzbekistan presidential press service confirmed the agreement.
A total of 28 documents were signed during the state visit, covering various aspects of Uzbek-Tajik cooperation. These included agreements on industrial cooperation, protection of industrial property, certification of high-qualified scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel, scientific collaboration between Academies of Sciences, as well as protocols amending agreements on border crossings, international road and air traffic.
Other agreements encompassed cooperation in veterinary medicine and food safety, development of competition and consumer rights protection, cultural and tourism cooperation, and the agricultural industry. Additionally, agreements and roadmaps for 2024-2026 were established between regions of both countries.
The signing of these agreements marks a significant step towards strengthening the bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, enhancing cooperation in various fields for mutual benefit and regional stability.
