Uzbekistan and Tajikistan Presidents Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Following high-level negotiations, Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan made statements to the media. Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the strong historical ties between the two nations. The signing of the Treaty of Allied Relations was highlighted as a significant step that aligns with the core interests of both countries.

The focus was also on enhancing industrial cooperation, particularly in mutually beneficial sectors such as engineering, energy, metallurgy, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture. Both countries will leverage the potential of a joint Uzbek-Tajik investment company to support these projects. Cooperation in the water-energy sector was underscored, along with a commitment to jointly manage transboundary water resources.

Additionally, efforts will be made to boost transportation and transit capabilities, including increasing passenger and cargo volumes and developing modern border and customs infrastructure. The Presidents expressed confidence that the historic visit and its outcomes will pave the way for the advancement and prosperity of the Uzbek and Tajik peoples.
