Eldiyor Toshmatov appointed as new Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan in Geneva

Eldiyor Toshmatov has arrived in Geneva to assume his duties as the new Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations, as reported by IA "Dunyo". Prior to his appointment in Geneva, he served as the head of the secretariat of the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

At 41 years old, Toshmatov is a graduate of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, the Academy of State and Social Construction under the President, and Webster University in Tashkent. He began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations (now the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade) and has been serving in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2008, progressing from an attaché to a counselor at the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan in Geneva.

From 2017 to 2019, he held the position of Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief of his Secretariat, and Head of the Organizational and Control Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Toshmatov has been leading the secretariat of the Senate Chairman since 2022. He replaces Ulugbek Lapasov in Geneva, who has been heading the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the UN in New York since August 2023.
