New Uzbek Ambassador Arrives in Budapest, Hungary

On March 7th, the newly appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Oybek Shakhavdinov, arrived in the capital of Hungary, as reported by the news agency "Dunyo". He has become the first Uzbek Ambassador to Hungary with a residence in Budapest.

Prior to his appointment, Shakhavdinov served as the Head of the Department for Cooperation with European Countries and EU Institutions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. A 46-year-old diplomat, he is a graduate of the University of Birmingham (UK), Tashkent State University of Law (Master's degree), and has completed translation courses at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).

Shakhavdinov began his career in the Khorezm region, where he was born and raised. He has been working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2004, starting at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent. He later served as a referent at the Department for Cooperation with European Countries and went through all the stages of diplomatic service to become the head of the department. He also worked at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Brussels.

Uzbekistan opened its embassy in Budapest in March 2023. Prior to this, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Hungary also served as the Ambassador to Austria. The Hungarian Embassy in Tashkent has been operational since 2017.
