EBRD President Odile Rena-Basso to Visit Uzbekistan for Key Economic Talks

President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Rena-Basso will visit Uzbekistan from May 1 to May 3, as announced by the bank's press service.

During the visit, she will meet with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and hold bilateral meetings with Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov and Vice Prime Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Khojaev.

President EBRD will co-chair the second plenary session of the Council of Foreign Investors and participate in the Tashkent International Investment Forum.

"Odile Rena-Basso will discuss the importance of privatization processes in Uzbekistan, enhancing the country's resilience to climate change in light of growing water and heat stress, the need for further improvement of the country's business environment through reforms. She will also touch upon issues of public-private partnerships, interregional cooperation, and energy security," the statement said.

During the visit, the head of EBRD plans to sign several projects aimed at developing sustainable transport links and supporting youth entrepreneurship.

Uzbekistan has been the leading recipient of EBRD financing in Central Asia for the fourth consecutive year. To date, the bank has invested around 4.42 billion euros in 151 projects across the country, with a significant portion of these funds directed towards supporting private entrepreneurship.
