President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) led by President Odile Renaud-Basso on May 1, ahead of the Tashkent International Investment Forum and the second meeting of the Foreign Investors Council, as reported by the state leader's press service.

Both parties acknowledged the "highest level of partnership and fruitful cooperation" achieved in recent years between Uzbekistan and EBRD. The bank's project portfolio in the country currently exceeds 4.4 billion euros, with the private sector accounting for nearly 70% of these projects.

A new Partnership Strategy between Uzbekistan and EBRD has been adopted to expand the scope and scale of cooperation, particularly focusing on areas such as small and medium-sized enterprises, women's entrepreneurship, alternative energy, digital technologies, and more.

With the support and direct involvement of EBRD, activities are underway to prepare state-owned enterprises for privatization, significant deals have been completed in the banking and financial sector, and regulatory frameworks in green energy, transportation infrastructure, ecology, and other sectors are being improved.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of promptly preparing and implementing new projects in the areas of water supply, energy, road infrastructure, and the development of "green" cities.

Furthermore, discussions were held on the agenda for the upcoming meeting of the Foreign Investors Council.
