The Governor of the Fergana Region, Khayrulla Bozorov, has reversed his decision made on January 29 to allocate a 2-hectare plot of land known as "Youth Lake" to the company Unays Building for permanent use. The company was registered just 24 days before the decision to transfer the land. The land was designated for the construction of a multi-story building, a hotel, a restaurant, and a shopping complex under the guise of "buildings and structures." However, the Governor incorrectly referenced a presidential decree in this matter.
Local residents advocated for the preservation and restoration of the lake, as there are limited recreational spaces available for youth and water sports activities.
The State Assets Management Agency has instructed the Fergana Region administration to return the "Youth Lake" to the balance of a sports school due to violations in the transfer of state assets from one organization to another. The "Milliy Tiklanish" party has requested a legal assessment of the situation from the Prosecutor General's Office.
In the new decision by the Governor, it is noted that Unays Building approached the administration on March 4, reporting delays in financing from foreign investors.
