Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the United Nations Ulugbek Lapasov and Permanent Representative of Djibouti to the United Nations Lamin Dibba signed a joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in New York on May 2.
The parties expressed readiness for further development of cooperation within international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies.

Djibouti, located in East Africa, became the 149th country with which Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations.
