President of Uzbekistan signed a resolution on measures to organize the activities of the Statistics Agency under the President. By the end of 2024, the country will implement basic principles to ensure the quality of official statistics in line with UN standards.
The resolution tasks to establish statistical information based on the Generic Statistical Business Process Model, adopt organizational measures for full implementation of UN-recommended quality management guidelines, develop quality policies in each official statistics producer, create a National Quality Management Guide, and conduct a global assessment of the national statistical system with international experts.
The document emphasizes the independence of the Statistics Agency in its official statistics formation, prohibits any interference in its lawful activities, mandates the publication of official statistical information, and ensures the autonomy of statistical management units at various administrative levels under the Agency.
Furthermore, the Statistics Agency, along with other relevant ministries, is assigned to annually compile and publish indicators of minimum consumer spending and poverty levels based on household surveys. Starting from January 1, 2025, consulting firms, universities, and research institutes will participate in statistical observations.
By the end of 2024, an electronic data exchange system will be established between the integrated "Statistics" information system and the interdepartmental integration platform of the "E-Government" system, enhancing data management and accessibility in Uzbekistan.
