President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, initiated a video conference upon his arrival in the Sirdaryo region's Saykhunabad district on Thursday, as announced by the state leader's press secretary, Sherzod Asadov. The meeting was dedicated to enhancing the population's income by fully utilizing the opportunities of household economies.

The President explained his choice to visit this specific district, stating that the people of Saykhunabad aspire to a better life, increased incomes, and education for their children, but face economic challenges. Despite significant investments in entrepreneurship, employment, and poverty reduction, the question remains as to how many of the 83,000 residents across 19 mahallas in Saykhunabad are benefitting from these opportunities, Mirziyoyev emphasized.

This conference marks a significant turning point in boosting incomes not only in Saykhunabad but throughout the country, the President highlighted.

President Mirziyoyev criticized the lack of attention from local and national leaders in improving the situation in Saykhunabad, accusing them of neglecting the region and merely holding meetings without taking effective action.

The district currently has 2,400 unemployed individuals, a poverty rate of 14%, local budget revenues of 27 billion soums, and expenditures of 67 billion soums, according to the head of state. Mirziyoyev expressed concern that entrepreneurship is not thriving in Saykhunabad, and the spirit of the New Uzbekistan is not being felt.

As a result, the first deputy hokim of the region, the hokim of the district, and his first deputy have been relieved of their duties, with modern professionals appointed in their place, the President announced.
