Police in Astana have detained a citizen of Uzbekistan who has been wanted internationally for over 10 years. According to the capital's Police Department on April 17, the 42-year-old Uzbek citizen had been wanted for human trafficking. The search was initiated by the Department of Internal Affairs of the Tashkent region. The man has been placed in a temporary detention facility, and extradition is being considered.
This recent arrest follows another incident where on April 11, 2024, a 32-year-old Russian citizen was detained at Almaty International Airport. The Russian citizen was also wanted internationally.
