In the Interdistrict Court for Criminal Cases of Shymkent, the criminal case against the chief accountant of the polyclinic of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports was considered. He was sentenced to 7.5 years of imprisonment for embezzling more than 29 million tenge.

The investigation accused him of embezzlement of entrusted property on an especially large scale using his official position.

"The defendant was found guilty under Article 189, part 4, clause 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and sentenced to 7.5 years of imprisonment with lifelong disqualification from holding positions in public service."

The press service of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan stated that the verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

The court established that the chief accountant of the polyclinic for a year credited funds to the accounts of employees in excess of their salaries. He then asked these excess funds to be returned to the bank card of an acquaintance.

"In this way, he misappropriated this money and spent it for his own needs. The actions of the defendant caused damage to the state in more than 29 million tenge."

The press service of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan mentioned that the prosecutor requested a sentence of 7.5 years of imprisonment. The defendant partially admitted guilt and asked the court to impose a punishment not related to deprivation of liberty.

"The court recognized the defendant's sincere repentance as mitigating circumstances, as well as the partial reimbursement of the damage; aggravating circumstances were not established."

On May 21, 2024, it was reported that a conditional sentence was given to an accountant for embezzling 30 million tenge from kindergartens.
