Court Proceedings Against Former Minister in Kazakhstan Nearing Conclusion

Today, on April 18, 2024, in Astana, during a court hearing regarding the criminal case against the former Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan, Kuandyk Bishimbayev, the presiding judge, Aizhan Kulbayeva, made a statement.

Initially, the judge announced a recess until 10:00 on April 22, and then addressed the participants of the trial. "I want to inform the participants of the trial that the judicial investigation is essentially coming to an end. All additions to the judicial investigation should be submitted on April 22-23, to allow the court to provide the parties with time to prepare for legal arguments. If you have any additions to the judicial investigation, please provide them on April 22-23. That's all, recess," summarized Aizhan Kulbayeva.

It is worth noting that Kuandyk Bishimbayev is accused of the particularly cruel murder of his civil wife, Saltanat Nukenova.

The case of the former minister is being considered in the Specialized Interdistrict Court for Criminal Cases of the capital, with the judge presiding over it being the chairperson of this court, Aizhan Kulbayeva. Kuandyk Bishimbayev and his brother, the director of "Gastrocenter" Bakhytzhan Bayzhanov, are on the defendants' bench.
