On April 12, 2024, the employees of the Department of the National Security Committee in the Almaty Region apprehended a man suspected of organizing an underground laboratory for producing psychotropic substances.
The National Security Committee stated that during the searches, approximately 25 kg of synthetic drugs, a ton of precursors, laboratory equipment, and a significant amount of foreign currency were confiscated. A pre-trial investigation under Article 297, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan is being conducted against the Kazakhstani citizen.
The suspect has been detained and taken into custody. According to Article 201, Part 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code, no further information will be disclosed.
On April 17, the National Security Committee announced the dismantling of a regional drug trafficking channel.
