Trial of Former Minister Accused of Murdering His Wife Continues in Astana

The trial of former Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kuandyk Bishimbayev, accused of brutally murdering his wife Saltanat Nukenova, is ongoing in Astana today, April 23, 2024.

During the first part of the court session, media representatives were allowed back into the courtroom after being previously removed on April 22. The judge, Aizhan Kulbayeva, announced this decision before the former minister provided the password to his phone for investigation. Additionally, Russian journalist Ksenia Sobchak was spotted in the courtroom.

It is worth noting that the case of the former minister is being heard in the Specialized Inter-District Court for Criminal Cases of the capital, with Judge Aizhan Kulbayeva presiding over the proceedings. Kuandyk Bishimbayev and his brother, the director of "Gastrocenter" Bakhytzhan Bayzhanov, are both defendants in the case.
