The head of the branch in collusion with the cashier stole money from a second-tier bank in Stepnogorsk.

As reported in the Stepnogorsk City Court of the Akmola Region on April 25, from November to December 2022, the cashier, under the director's instructions, regularly took money from the bank's vault and handed it over to him. The sums involved were 1,000,000 tenge, 3,000,000 tenge, 8,000,000 tenge, and so on.

"According to the audit report, the amount of the shortage in the bank branch amounted to more than 255 million tenge," the court said.

When imposing the punishment, the court considered the director's sincere repentance, young age, and positive characteristics of the cashier as mitigating circumstances.

By the court's verdict, both were sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment.

"Regarding the compensation of the damage to the victim, the right to appeal to the court in the civil procedure has been explained. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force," the court noted.

In March 2024, we reported on how a bank employee deceived Kazakhstanis out of 35 million tenge.
