Police officers in the Almaty region stopped a Honda Odyssey car in one of the country cottage areas for inspection. During the search, they found around one kilogram of a synthetic drug substance similar to mephedrone in the vehicle, as reported by a local news source.

Subsequently, the police conducted a search at the suspect's place of residence. It was revealed that about a month ago, the man had set up a drug laboratory in one of the country houses in the Zhambyl district and had already manufactured nearly five kilograms of mephedrone. The search uncovered reagents, containers, and items necessary for drug production.

According to the investigation, the drugs were intended for distribution in the city. Consequently, approximately 20,000 doses of potent synthetic drugs, valued at over 360 million tenge, were prevented from entering the streets of Almaty, noted Bauyrzhan Alenov, the head of the Almaty region's Department of Police.

A pre-trial investigation into the illegal manufacturing of narcotics has been initiated, and the suspect has been taken into custody.

Earlier, police in the North Kazakhstan region apprehended a 23-year-old suspect involved in the sale of synthetic drugs. The drug dealer was found in possession of 25 packets of synthetic drugs.
