On April 29, 2024, the start of the debates in the case of former minister Kuandyk Bishimbayev was postponed from 10:00 to 14:30. The reason was the absence of the defendants in the courtroom.

Today in the criminal court of Astana, the debates were supposed to begin in the case of Kuandyk Bishimbayev. He is accused under two articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan:

  1. Article 99, part 2, point 5 ("Murder committed with particular cruelty");
  2. Article 110, part 2, point 1 ("Torture of a person who is in material or other dependence on the guilty party").

Also sitting on the defendants' bench is his cousin, Bakytzhan Bayzhanov. He is accused under:

  1. Article 432 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Concealment");
  2. Article 434 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Failure to report a crime").

"There were issues with the convoy service, and the defendants will be brought in after 11:00. The main court proceedings are postponed to 14:30 because by the time the convoy arrives, it will be already 12:00, which would not leave enough time for the court session. Therefore, the court session will resume at 14:30," stated Judge Aizhan Kulbayeva.

On April 24, 2024, the judge announced the completion of the judicial investigation in the case of Bishimbayev. On that day, a clairvoyant was questioned in court, whose testimony differed from the testimonies of the defendants Bishimbayev and Bayzhanov. Additionally, a family housekeeper testified in court.
