Workers of the Specialized Center for Administrative Offenses (SCAO), intermediaries, and police officers involved in the illegal registration of cars imported from abroad without paying the required fees and charges stipulated by the law have been convicted in Nur-Sultan.
According to the Anti-Corruption Service, the verdict was announced on April 25, 2024. They were accused of creating and leading an organized group, causing financial damage to the state, unlawfully entering and destroying information about vehicles in the information systems "SC" Web-Module" and "IIS SCAO," as well as forging written transaction forms.
From January to May 2022, the criminal group illegally registered 462 cars imported from abroad, causing a total damage of 1.2 billion tenge to the state.
The press service of the Anti-Corruption Service stated that 32 individuals were sentenced by the court. Additionally, 7 employees were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 2 years and 6 months to 3 years and 6 months.
It is worth noting that they have been stripped of their special titles and permanently barred from holding positions in the civil service.
"The verdict was announced in the presence of the personnel of the Nur-Sultan Police Department, as well as SCAO workers from Nur-Sultan. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force," mentioned the press service of the Anti-Corruption Service.
During the investigation, evidence of forgery by an SCAO specialist of owners' signatures on written transaction forms for the sale and purchase of cars was uncovered. This action aims to eliminate corruption risks related to signature forgery of car owners when concluding sales contracts.
On March 14, 2024, the Financial Monitoring Agency made an important statement. It was reported that comprehensive checks on the legality of registering trucks, buses, and other vehicles in all SCAOs of Kazakhstan have commenced to ensure the correct payment of fees.
