Today, on May 15, 2024, a citizen of Kazakhstan was extradited from Turkey to face criminal charges of robbery, murder, and car theft. The suspect has been placed in investigative custody in Astana.

According to the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office, in March 2022, the man, together with his brother, committed a robbery by attacking a truck driver transporting tobacco products worth over 300 million tenge in the Almaty region. "After killing the driver, the criminals disposed of the body by burying it in a roadside pit."

Following the crime, one of the suspects was arrested and later convicted, while the other managed to escape and was placed on the international wanted list. However, in August 2023, the fugitive was apprehended in Turkey. "He is currently held in investigative custody in Astana," stated the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan.

The punishment for these crimes includes imprisonment for 15 to 20 years or life imprisonment with property confiscation.

On February 23, 2024, a leader of a transnational organized crime group was extradited from Poland to Kazakhstan. In 2022, the criminal group he established was involved in manufacturing and trafficking large quantities of psychotropic substances within Kazakhstan. The volume of illegal substances seized exceeded one ton, with a total black-market value surpassing 1.5 billion tenge.
