The Ministry of Education announced that the application process for enrolling in first grade will begin on April 1 and continue until August 31, 2024. Parents can submit their child's documents through the eGovernment web portal eGov.kz. It is expected that over 370,000 Kazakh children will start first grade in the upcoming academic year.
In accordance with education laws, a provision has been introduced in lyceums and gymnasiums that prohibits exams for first-grade admissions. This initiative aims to reduce the psychological stress on first-graders associated with testing and interviews, ensuring equal opportunities for all children regardless of their preparation level.
Aliya Chokusheva, the head of the Department of Secondary Education, highlighted that children aged six are eligible for enrollment in first grade. Parents are required to submit a statement, a health certificate (form №065u), the child's health passport (026/u-3), and two 3x4 photos of the child.
Due to parental requests, the Ministry of Education extended the deadline for submitting enrollment documents for first grade until August 31. Previously, the deadline was from April 1 to August 1.
