President of Kazakhstan Emphasizes National Unity in Day of Unity Address

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his congratulatory message on the Day of Unity of the people of Kazakhstan noted that as always, in the most difficult moments of our history, our people are united and determined to achieve success and victory.

The head of state mentioned that this holiday symbolizes tranquility and stability, peace and harmony in the country.

"Our unique civilization has been formed thanks to the harmonious fusion of cultures, religions, and traditions of many ethnic groups that have found their homeland on Kazakh land. All citizens of our state are one nation involved in the construction of a Just Kazakhstan. It is in unity that the strength of our people lies. Therefore, we must make every effort to preserve and strengthen this heritage. This is the sacred duty and honorable responsibility of every citizen of our state," said President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

National unity is currently being tested for strength in days of trials, according to the president.

"This year, we are facing unprecedented floods. The unity of the nation has been convincingly demonstrated in selfless mutual assistance, sincere empathy of citizens towards each other. Once again, we have shown that in the most difficult moments of Kazakhstan's history, the people are united and determined to achieve success and victory. Qualities such as creativity and innovation, hard work and thirst for knowledge, solidarity, and responsibility will be a reliable guarantee of the prosperity of our people," stated President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The head of state wished all citizens of our country good health and well-being.

The Day of Unity of the people has been celebrated in Kazakhstan since 1996 and is included in the list of public holidays in Kazakhstan.

Traditionally, on the first day of May, the republic rests and celebrates the unity and mutual respect of all ethnic groups living in the country. Cities host mass celebrations, festivals, and contests aimed at demonstrating the uniqueness of different ethnic groups. In total, representatives of 124 ethnic groups live in peace and harmony in Kazakhstan.
