The Department of Emergency Situations of the West Kazakhstan region has reported on the flooding situation in the area. A total of 432 houses have been submerged due to the rapid snowmelt and heavy rainfall.
The most critical situation is in the Syrymsky and Karatobinsky districts. The rise of the Olenty River in the Syrymsky district has led to the flooding of residential homes in the villages of Olenty, Zhimpity, and Buldyrty. Additionally, five settlements in the Syrymsky district have lost cellular communication due to a power grid failure. Restoration work is currently underway.
Residents whose homes have been flooded in the villages of Zhimpity, Buldyrty, and Olenty in the Syrymsky district have been relocated to their relatives. To stabilize the situation, 50 military personnel have been dispatched from Almaty to the three villages.
In the Karatobinsky district, the Zhaksybai River has flooded homes in the village of Korzhyn. The residents have been relocated to schools. Today, on March 28, residents of the village of Korzhyn will be evacuated to a safe location using two helicopters from Aktobe.
On March 27, over 100 people were evacuated by the Ministry of Defense pilots from the disaster areas in the West Kazakhstan region.
