Renovation Program in Astana: Residents of 60 Dilapidated Buildings to be Resettled in New Homes

in Society / Kazakhstan - by

In the capital city, a renovation program for old housing is underway, involving the demolition of emergency buildings and the resettlement of residents into new homes. By 2024, residents of 60 emergency buildings will be relocated to 1400 apartments, benefiting around 4200 city dwellers, as reported by the official website of the city administration.

Since 2013, residents of 286 emergency buildings have already been resettled in the capital, with over 4500 families receiving new, well-equipped apartments. As part of the housing stock renovation project for the years 2023-2029, residents of 206 emergency buildings will be relocated to 4710 apartments in Astana.

The housing stock renovation includes comprehensive reconstruction of "old" city quarters by demolishing emergency (dilapidated) housing and resettling citizens through the requisition of residential buildings and the land plot on which they are located.

According to the project's terms, residents of emergency buildings are provided with new apartments of equivalent size, ensuring each receives at least a one-bedroom apartment, in line with legal requirements.

In response to the President's directives, efforts to improve housing conditions involve repairs to residential complexes, elevator replacements, construction of preferential social housing, and the completion of long-standing construction projects. These initiatives are being implemented systematically.
