Over 7,000 Kazakh Citizens Use Online Service to Self-Restrict from Gambling

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MTS) of Kazakhstan revealed today, on April 3, 2024, the number of citizens who have prohibited themselves from online gambling.

Since March 18, a pilot online service has been launched for citizens and residents of Kazakhstan to self-restrict from participating in gambling and betting activities.

"As of April 1 this year, more than 7,000 citizens and residents of Kazakhstan have used the online service via the eGov mobile application," stated the MTS press service.

According to Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports Miras Tulebayev, the new online service significantly reduces the processing time of requests and simplifies the procedure for self-restricting from gambling compared to the paper application format.

"This allows all citizens, especially those excessively involved in gambling, to instantly block access to all legal gambling establishments and licensed bookmakers' websites," explained Miras Tulebayev.

The Ministry of Tourism further clarified that individuals who wish to restrict their participation in gambling and betting activities must submit their application independently using a personal electronic digital signature (EDS).

"Third parties are not allowed to submit applications," emphasized the MTS press service.

Additionally, alongside this digital service, citizens and residents of Kazakhstan still have the option to submit a written application (in paper form) for self-restriction from gambling and betting activities through gambling business organizers.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, over 3,000 individuals have self-restricted from participating in gambling and betting activities in the paper format.
