Chair of the Committee for the Protection of Children's Rights of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nasyimzhan Ospanova, addressed recent cases of severe child abuse. In a statement, she emphasized the importance of providing a safe and caring environment for every child to thrive. Ospanova urged society not to turn a blind eye to such incidents and to actively intervene to support children's rights and safety.
She stressed the collective responsibility of Kazakh citizens in safeguarding children's rights and preventing violence through all possible means. Ospanova called for unity in creating a society where children feel happy, safe, carefree, and protected. She highlighted the need to be vigilant and respond to signs of violence, encouraging education on children's rights and protection from harm.
Ospanova also shared helpline information for reporting cases of child abuse and emphasized the role of Child Rights Commissioners in each region to assist in addressing such issues. Additionally, QR codes linking to the "Child Protection" chat are available in all schools nationwide. She underscored that protecting children's rights is a shared responsibility, achievable only through collective efforts for tangible change.
Recent incidents of brutal child abuse, captured on social media, have sparked outrage. Videos showing a woman assaulting her daughter with a knife, a trash can, and physical blows, as well as footage of a caregiver mistreating a child in a kindergarten in Kostanay, have circulated online, further highlighting the urgency of addressing and preventing such atrocities.
