In the court case of former minister Kuandyk Bishimbayev, accused of the brutal murder of his civil wife Saltanat Nukenova, the second accused, Bakhytzhan Bayzhanov, spoke on April 11, 2024.

Firstly, the brother of the former minister expressed his condolences to all those affected by the tragedy. He apologized to Saltanat's family and friends, his own parents, and his wife, acknowledging the responsibility he bears. Bayzhanov reflected on his actions and inaction, admitting that he failed to fully understand the seriousness of the situation on that fateful day.

He recounted seeing signs of abuse on Saltanat that morning, indicating that Bishimbayev had been drinking and causing trouble the night before. Bayzhanov expressed deep regret for not recognizing the danger Saltanat was in and not acting to prevent the tragedy.

Bayzhanov also expressed remorse for his inaction and reflected on what he could have done differently that day. He hoped for forgiveness from Saltanat's family for not intervening in time. Describing Saltanat as kind and never showing rudeness, he shared his deep regret for the tragic outcome.

Bakhytzhan Bayzhanov faces charges of "Concealment of a Crime" under the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan. The case involves the arrest of former Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev on suspicion of his wife's murder at a restaurant in the capital.

The court also heard from two witnesses, an emergency doctor, and a patrol police officer. The investigation into Bishimbayev's case concluded in January 2024, with additional charges of "Torture" being brought against him.

In a previous court appearance, Bishimbayev apologized to Saltanat's family but did not admit guilt in her intentional murder. The legal team representing the victim revealed the cause of Saltanat Nukenova's death earlier in April.

The ongoing trial continues to uncover details surrounding this tragic case, shedding light on the events leading to the untimely death of Saltanat Nukenova and the subsequent legal proceedings.
