Life in Kulsary, from where people were evacuated in large numbers during floods, is gradually getting back on track.
The emergency headquarters in the Atyrau region reported on April 12 that the river Bolshoy Zhem was returning to its banks.
In the city of Kulsary, grocery stores, supermarkets, and public transport have resumed operations. Buses will provide free services for two days. The connection of communal infrastructure is being carried out citywide.
Simultaneously, authorities are considering providing assistance to those affected by the floods.
"At the moment, the Emergency Headquarters is working on draining the areas that were flooded during the disaster. According to the law, a special commission is being formed to compensate citizens for the damage caused by the natural disaster," said Gulnafis Ayshuakova, deputy akim of the Zhiloy district.
Since the state of emergency was declared, 12,000 residents, including around 5,000 children, have been evacuated from Kulsary to three destinations: the city of Atyrau, the Tengiz oilfield camp, and the Beineu district of the Mangystau region.
Unfortunately, there were casualties. On April 7, rescuers in Kulsary found the bodies of two men without signs of life.
