Police officers in Kazakhstan have successfully filed lawsuits against their superiors in the specialized inter-district administrative court of the West Kazakhstan Region. The officers requested the Department of Police to grant them housing allowances.
According to the administrative case materials, the housing commission of the Police Department had denied the officers' request for housing allowances due to their ownership of mortgage property. Dissatisfied with this decision, the officers turned to the court for justice.
The officers explained that they had purchased homes through mortgages and were making monthly payments on their loans. They sought the court's recognition of their housing needs and requested their employer to provide housing allowances.
After reviewing the case and the decision of the Police Department's housing commission, the inter-district administrative court ruled in favor of the officers. The court acknowledged their right to receive housing allowances to help repay their mortgages.
As a result, the court ordered the Police Department to issue a favorable administrative act granting housing allowances to the officers. The judicial decisions have now come into legal force, ensuring that the officers receive the support they deserve.
In a separate case, a former police officer in 2023 challenged the deprivation of his pension and demotion from the rank of lieutenant colonel due to committing a crime of medium severity.
