Kazakh Parliament Introduces Stricter Regulations on Gambling Industry

in Society / Kazakhstan - by

Members of the Mazhilis have passed amendments to the gambling law in Kazakhstan, which includes restrictions on advertising for betting shops and casinos. The proposed changes also include raising the minimum age for gambling to 25 and imposing penalties on those who allow individuals under 25 to participate.

Additionally, online casino operators will face criminal liability. The goal of these amendments is to combat the high rates of gambling addiction in the country, with nearly one in five Kazakhs involved in some form of gambling in the past 2.5 years. The draft law is currently under review by the Mazhilis with the aim of protecting vulnerable groups and effectively regulating the industry.
