Vice Minister of Health Timur Sultangaziev discussed the possibility of banning the sale of energy drinks to individuals under 21 in Kazakhstan during a Senate session on March 14, 2024.

In response to journalists, Sultangaziev confirmed that restrictions on energy drink sales are being considered due to their harmful effects, particularly on the younger generation. Vice Minister Sultangaziev highlighted the potential for increased taxes on energy drinks as part of these revisions. Earlier, on February 22, 2024, Vice Minister of Health and Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Kazakhstan, Aizhan Esmagambetova, explained the reasoning behind proposing tax hikes on sugar-containing beverages in the country.
