Almaty to Address Major School Repair Following Earthquake Damage

In Almaty, the issue of major repairs at a school with serious cracks in its walls after the March 4, 2024 earthquake will be discussed. Journalist Mikhail Kozachkov shared photos of the cracked walls of School No. 190 in the Bostandyk district. According to him, the cracks even appeared on load-bearing walls.

The editorial team reached out to the city authorities to inquire about the measures that will be taken regarding this school. The district authorities reported that the school was inspected on March 6.

Representatives of the Bostandyk district akimat, along with the emergency department, urban planning control authorities, and the education department, visited School No. 190 on March 6. Cracks were identified on the walls of the classrooms, and a visual inspection report was prepared by the working group, along with photos and videos.

On March 4, the Almaty Construction Department confirmed that cracks had appeared on the walls of several educational buildings following the earthquake.
