The Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan announced on March 17 that false information about legislative norms allowing authorities to take children away from families is circulating online.
The Ministry refuted these claims, emphasizing that there are no provisions related to child removal in the education and child protection bills under consideration. The state's policy aims to support families in difficult situations and prioritize parents in matters of upbringing and child safety. Measures include setting up support centers and psychological assistance for families in need. The Committee for Child Protection is dedicated to ensuring every child's right to live and be raised in their biological family.
Child protection is only enforced in cases of immediate danger to the child's life or health, in accordance with existing laws. The Ministry urged parents to rely on official sources of information and clarified that authorities can temporarily place a child in a support center only in cases of direct threat to the child's life or health.
During a parliamentary session on February 21, developers confirmed that there are no provisions for forcibly removing children from families in the proposed amendments regarding women's rights and child safety.
