In a unique cultural exchange, American cowboys are sharing their expertise with Kazakh horsemen in Astana. The exchange was announced during a meeting chaired by the head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the city, Vasily Levit, where preparations for the upcoming Nauryz meyramy festival were discussed.
Nauryznama, the celebration of the Great Day of the Ulus, spans 10 days in Kazakhstan with various events. As part of the festivities, on March 20th, National Sports Day, the city's Sports Department, in collaboration with the National Sports Association, will host demonstrations at the equestrian sports and recreational complex "Argymak". Residents will have the opportunity to witness traditional Kazakh sports such as kokpar, audaryspak, tengge ilu, and qyz quu. Additionally, there will be free masterclasses on traditional Kazakh games and horseback riding, as well as a crafts fair. All residents and guests of the capital are invited to enjoy the day, with free entry for residents.
Organizers highlighted that all cultural and entertainment events at the "Argymak" complex will be open to the public. The event will run from 10 am to 3 pm, with delegations from the United States participating as special guests. American cowboys will also participate in the demonstrations, exchanging experiences with Kazakh riders and showcasing Kazakh kokpar.
Furthermore, from March 21st to 23rd, sports competitions are scheduled to take place in five locations across the city, with valuable prizes awarded to the winners.
