Kazakhstan to Provide Free Medical Screenings for Cancer, Tuberculosis, and Diabetes

in Society / Kazakhstan - by

Kazakhstan's Minister of Health, Akmaral Alnazarova, announced on March 18th that Kazakhstani citizens suspected of having cancer, tuberculosis, and diabetes will receive free medical screenings regardless of their status in the healthcare system. The Ministry of Health is implementing changes to ensure accessibility to diagnostic tests for those with suspected significant diseases. This initiative aims to provide diagnostic tests free of charge based on clinical treatment protocols, irrespective of insurance status within the healthcare system.

Moreover, the Ministry is introducing a personalized approach for each patient and expanding the range of diseases subject to dynamic monitoring. Previously, multidisciplinary groups in polyclinics monitored patients with chronic conditions like arterial hypertension, diabetes, and chronic heart failure. With the new regulation, all patients with chronic pathologies will be supported by a team of healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, psychologists, social workers, specialists in healthy lifestyle promotion, and other relevant experts.

Additionally, optimizations in screening tests are being made, revising target groups and types of diagnostic services based on evidence-based practices and treatment informativeness. High-sensitivity diagnostic tests will be utilized to enhance the early detection of diseases through screening examinations. Furthermore, quotas for narcotic and psychotropic substances for medical and scientific purposes have been approved in Kazakhstan as of March 18th.
