Major Drug Trafficking Channel of Afghan Origin Disrupted by Law Enforcement Authorities

A significant drug trafficking channel of Afghan origin has been intercepted on a large scale, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to their information, a car Opel Zafira, driven by A.Zh. born in 1980, was stopped on the Bishkek – Isfana highway at the entrance to Batken. Upon inspection of the vehicle, hidden compartments containing 13 bricks were found under the upholstery of the four door sills, weighing over 13 kilograms in total.

According to the conclusion of the forensic chemical examination, the substance seized in the car is Afghan-origin cannabis resin (hashish). A.Zh. has been detained and placed in custody at facility No. 21 of the State Penitentiary Service. Further efforts are underway to determine the detainee's involvement with a transnational organized criminal drug group.
