Russian Ex-Security Service Officer's Car Bomber Detained in Kyrgyzstan

Vladimir Golovchenko, accused of detonating the car of former Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) employee Vasily Prozorov, has been apprehended in Kyrgyzstan. According to law enforcement agencies, Golovchenko was arrested while attempting to evade investigation in Kyrgyzstan, with the cooperation of Kyrgyz and Russian forces.

The authorities are currently investigating Golovchenko's accomplices and their whereabouts. The suspect holds a residence permit in Ukraine, where his wife resides, and Kyrgyzstani citizenship, with his mother and other relatives living there.

The Insider's information was confirmed by a source in Kyrgyzstan's National Security Committee, revealing that Golovchenko was seized on the street, placed in a vehicle, and taken to the airport under secrecy.

On April 18, the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow arrested Golovchenko. The incident dates back to April 12 when Prozorov's vehicle exploded in a Moscow parking lot, leading to injuries. The Russian Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case.

Four days later, the FSB reported the detention of a 41-year-old Russian suspected of the car bombing. The FSB claimed the suspect left for Ukraine after the war's outbreak, was recruited by the SBU in October 2023, and returned to Moscow in March 2024 to carry out the bombing on Ukrainian intelligence's orders.

The following day, the FSB announced the arrest of a Russian and Moldovan citizen born in 1994, who allegedly brought explosives into Russia from abroad and planted them under a vehicle.

Vasily Prozorov, a former SBU lieutenant colonel, admitted collaborating with Russia from April 2014 until his resignation in 2018, citing ideological reasons. The SBU stated his dismissal was due to "professional misconduct—systematic alcohol consumption at work, and discrediting the officer's rank."
