The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek has ruled to detain Imamidin Tashov, the head of the construction company KG Group, in pre-trial detention until May 22, 2024. The district court's press service confirmed the decision.
Tashov, who was wanted for allegedly attempting to seize power by force, was apprehended in the village of Kaindy in the Chui region. The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) reported that he was planning to establish a temporary headquarters for a protest action and subsequent power seizure in Kara-Balta. While evading authorities, Tashov was actively recruiting supporters through social media, according to the committee.
Previously, the GKNB stated that KG Group had constructed six residential buildings in Bishkek, none of which were put into operation due to unauthorized construction without proper permits.
In a video address posted on social media, Tashov claimed he was "abducted like a bandit," held captive, and extorted for an additional 100 million soms on top of the 52 million he had already paid to the state.
